Our Experience
The Information & Education Division of the California Family Health Council has been developing easy-to-read, culturally appropriate materials since 1985, when we created our "Without Words" series on reproductive health for then-recent Southeast Asian immigrants. Since then we have worked with clients and health care providers to develop materials for many different populations, including:
- The diverse cultural groups using California Office of Family Planning clinics
- Women in prison at risk for HIV infection
- Parents who have lost a baby to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
- Chinese women at risk for breast and cervical cancer
- Young, urban males who need information about reproductive health
- Teen parents at risk for child abuse
- Women facing a biopsy or breast cancer diagnosis
Over the years, we have developed hundreds of materials in more than dozen languages:
- Consent Forms
- Evidence of Coverage booklets
- Membership Guides
- Protocols and Procedure Manuals
- Information Sheets
- Promotional brochures
- Patient education pamphlets
- Health Education booklets
- Flip Charts
- Curricula and Training Guides
- Videos
We have developed materials for hundreds of organizations and agencies, including:
- The California State Department of Health Services
- Susan G. Komen Foundation
- The National March of Dimes
- Kaiser Permanente
- Sutter General Hospital
- Academy of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
- Blue Cross
- Visiting Nurse Association
