How to Provide Client-Centered
Counseling

Client-centered counseling is a way of providing education and counseling that best serves the client. By following a few simple guidelines, an educator can determine the client’s true needs, shape a session to their specific requirements, and
deliver quality health.

This activity-based workshop will help participants learn or enhance the skills necessary to provide true client-centered counseling.

Who Should Attend

  • Medical Assistants
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Health Educators
  • Nurses (LVNs and RNs)
  • Community Health Workers
  • Other interested program staff

Program Topics & Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define client-centered counseling,
  • Identify key component of putting clientcentered
    counseling into practice,
  • Demonstrate how to conduct effective client centered
    counseling in birth control method, STD risk reduction and pregnancy counseling sessions.

Continuing Education

There is an additional $15.00 administration fee, per certificate, payable on site.

Nursing

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 12241, for 3 contact hours.

Health Education

The California Family Health Council is designated as a provider of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Health educators attending this program may report up to 2.75 contact hours.
