How to Provide Services to Males

This workshop will provide practical strategies for providing services to males in a Title X clinic setting.  This will include examples of what has worked in other clinics throughout the country for getting males to come in to the clinic, providing services that are client-centered and relevant to males, and getting males to return for future services.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for any family planning clinic or program staff responsible for working with clients:

  • Medical Assistants
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Health Educators
  • Nurses (LVNs and RNs)
  • Community Health Workers
  • Other interested program staff

Program Topics & Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe what has and what has not worked in serving the health needs of males.
  • List services that male clients want.
  • Discuss strategies for making the clinic environment male friendly.
  • Discuss strategies for providing client-centered services that are relevant to the males we want to serve.

Continuing Education

There is an additional $15.00 administration fee, per certificate, payable on site.

Nursing

Provider approved by California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 12241, for 6.6 contact hours.

Health Educators

The California Family Health Council is designated as a provider of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.  Health educators attending this program may report up to 6.0 contact hours.

Social Workers

The California Family Health Council, Inc., provider number 3165, is an approved provider of continuing education for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements in California. This course meets the qualifications for 6.0 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
