How to Talk to Clients about HPV

HPV can be confusing.  Some HPV goes away and some does not.  Some HPV lead to warts and some lead to cervical cancer.  There are two different vaccines that do not cover exactly the same kinds of HPV.  There are also different tests with different guidelines for different clients.

This training will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to talk to clients about HPV testing, treatment and vaccines.

  • Nurses (LVNs and RNs)
  • Community Health Workers
  • Other interested program staff

Program Topics & Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe to clients what HPV is, how it is transmitted, and when they should be tested for it.
  • Talk to clients about whether the vaccine is right for them.
  • Discuss when a client should be tested for HPV and the type of test to use.

Continuing Education

There is an additional $15.00 administration fee, per certificate, payable on site.

Nursing

Provider approved by California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 12241, for 2.4 contact hours.

Health Educators

The California Family Health Council is designated as a provider of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.  Health educators attending this program may report up to 2.0 contact hours.

Social Workers

The California Family Health Council, Inc., provider number 3165, is an approved provider of continuing education for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements in California. This course meets the qualifications for 2.0 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
